Leyburn Medical Practice is delighted to be working with Inter Care to recycle unwanted and surplus medical items (not medicines) that would otherwise go to waste.
Inter Care is a unique charity in Leicestershire that aims to tackle some of this waste. To date they have recycled over £10 million worth of medical aid.
The charity has strong connections with over 100 health units in rural Africa and supplies these medicines direct to them free of charge. Through recycling they help save lives in Africa. With limited funds they make a big impact and support a catchment of 8.5 million people.
Inter Care receives no Government funding, but with the help of over 40 trained volunteers and only four part time staff keeps costs low. For every £1 donated they can continue to reduce waste and send £4 worth of aid.
The Practice will also be fundraising for the charity by organising various activities and are eager to have the full support of staff, patients and the community.

“Inter Care is the only organization that is supplying us with medicines. Without it we would not be able to support the poor people.”
