Providing excellence in healthcare
We are an NHS practice based in the North Yorkshire town of Leyburn. We provide the full range of services expected from a GP practice including specialist clinics in COPD/asthma, monitoring for diabetes, heart disease and hypertension, family planning and much more.
All of our doctors are partners in the Practice which is an unlimited partnership. Every patient (including children) is allocated a named GP who will take lead responsibility for the co-ordination of their general practice healthcare services. Normally this will be the GP under whom you are registered or the GP that you usually see, but if you have a particular preference then please contact us to let us know. You will still be able to see any GP of your choice and if you would like to know who your named GP is please do not hesitate to ask at reception.
Our Advanced Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Prescriber can diagnose conditions, issue prescriptions and refer patients to consultants, and our team of highly experienced nurses provides a number of nurse-led services in the Practice.
Click here to make or manage your appointment with us. If you require an appointment on the same day then a doctor will ring you back to discuss your needs and, with you, decide whether you need to come in or whether your problem can be dealt with over the telephone then and there. This helps us to make sure that those who need to be seen urgently can be seen urgently. We also have the usual range of face-to-face appointments where patients can come down to the surgery and see the doctor or nurse and we also offer telephone appointments (a lot of conditions can be dealt with on the phone which we hope is convenient for patients).

However it should be noted that the prescribed method for calculating earnings is potentially misleading because it takes no account of how much time doctors spend working in the practice, and should not be used to form any judgement about GP earnings, nor to make any comparison with any other practice.
The average pay for GPs working in Leyburn Medical Practice in the last financial year was £42069 before tax and National Insurance. This is for 0 full time GPs, 7 part time GPs and 1 locum GPs who worked in the practice for more than 6 months.
